“I had the opportunity to work closely with Vero during one of the most demanding periods of the City Rail Link programme.

I brought Vero into the Assurance and Integration team to support me directly across my Owner Interface Manager responsibilities, while also helping with Trial Operations, the Proxy Passenger programme, Owner Notices, financial administration and a wide range of project and executive matters.

Vero quickly became one of the people I could rely on most. She has a rare ability to take a complex or poorly defined issue, get across the detail quickly, work out what needs to happen and then follow it through to completion.

Her contribution went well beyond traditional executive level support. During the peak of Trial Operations, she took on an increasingly significant role supporting the Proxy Passenger programme and Stage 6 emergency exercises. This included working through safety, participant, logistics, payment and stakeholder requirements for exercises involving large numbers of people and multiple organisations.

She was equally comfortable supporting senior-level decision-making, drafting correspondence, coordinating actions, managing others, procurement, and getting directly involved in the detail needed to resolve issues.

What stood out most was her judgement, reliability and commitment. Vero brought calm and structure to work that was often time-critical, sensitive and constantly changing. She was discreet, practical, highly organised and always willing to step into whatever needed attention.

“I had the privilege of working with Veronique on the City Rail Link’s Stage 6 emergency testing phase, one of the programme’s most critical milestones. Over six weeks, Vero led 14 large-scale emergency scenario activations involving 1,400+ volunteer passengers. These events were the public’s first live CRL experiences, carrying significant reputational and stakeholder risk.

As Project Lead, Vero aligned a complex multi-agency team made up of KiwiRail, Auckland One Rail, Auckland Transport, City Rail Link Ltd and Link Alliance, navigating competing priorities and processes with clarity and composure.
